Maintaining Professionalism In Real Estate Internet Marketing
With great Internet publising power comes a greater adherence to professionalism in Internet marketing. And I experienced it today, thanks to Point2.
I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to Mrs. Annaliza Kim, the owner of the beautiful house which we used in our Meadowood Executive Subdivision listing to model the community's well-ordered surroundings.
An Internet viewer of my Meadowood Executive Subdivision listing mistakenly thought her house was part of the listing for sale.
It just so happened that the viewer happened to be Mrs. Kim's aunt, who is based in California. She recognized the house while surfing Point2Home's NLS site and contacted Mrs. Kim to verify this. Mrs. Kim e-mailed and called me this afternoon to advise me of this. I double checked and the picture was labelled as 'an average (meaning typical) house in Meadowood'. It was part of a set of pictures to describe the location and surroundings. Further, the listing indicated that it was 'lot/land' for sale.
I assure Mrs. Kim that we are committed to professional real estate practice, moreso in using the Internet to market our properties. I admit that in our to haste post the pictures on the site I forgot to get Mrs. Kim's express permission to use the photo of her house. I regret the oversight. I have removed the picture from the listing and posted the erratum directly in the updated description.
This experience just showed how a Philippine listing can get international viewership in just seconds, thanks to Point2. It also shows the great responsibility to be extra zealous as realtors using the Internet. These are new issues that come with the use of the medium, moreso as we use we reach a cross-cultural audience even as we design our listings from our own, monocultural viewpoint. So to our customers, we continue to welcome your comments on our site or our listings. Thank you to Mrs. Kim's much-valued feedback.
